Sky Yoga is an aerial style of yoga that uses a silk hammock to enhance traditional yoga poses. The hammock allows for deeper stretches, greater flexibility, and a fun element to the practice. With the help of the hammock, advanced postures become more accessible while easier postures become more challenging. This provides an opportunity to look at your practice, body, and mind from a new perspective.
During a typical Sky Yoga class, “pulling” muscles are engaged more, providing a perfect balance to a traditional floor practice. In addition to practicing postures in the sky, students can work on tumbling and tricks, adding a playful element to their yoga routine. Sky Yoga is perfect for anyone looking to take their practice to the next level or add a new dimension to their teaching.
This 50-hour YACEP registered course is internationally accredited with the Yoga Alliance and counts as continuous education if you are registered with the Yoga Alliance. Upon completion, participants will receive a certification that allows them to teach at gyms, yoga studios, or from home.
The course includes a manual, 5 Sky Yoga classes at Earth Yoga Studio, and the opportunity to assist in 5 classes. Upon completion, participants may even have the opportunity to teach a class at Earth Yoga. The course is led by Izelle Nair, owner and co-creator of Earth Yoga and Sky Yoga since 2012.
The course will take place from July 14 – 19 August 2023, from 10am to 5pm (exam on the Saturday from 11am). Space is limited, with small groups to ensure personal attention to each participant. The cost of the course is R10 000, with a deposit of R4 000 due upon registration and R2 000 monthly instalments until all fees are paid in full. An early bird discount of R2 000 is available for those who register by 30 June 2023.
Please note that there are no refunds on the deposit or any of the course fees. All course requirements must be met, and all fees paid in full before a certificate will be issued. If you miss a class, it is up to you to make up the hours.
