It’s a new year, and with it comes all the talk of new year resolutions. Some people are fired up and ready to go from the 1st of Jan. Others need more motivation. Personally, I do not believe in resolutions. From my experience, they don’t work.
What does work for me, are dreams. Dreams, however, do not come true over night. You have to work hard at them and constantly reassess where you are at, evaluate, and lose the things that don’t work.
Which brings us to unwanted habits. A lot of time realizing dreams are overcoming unwanted habits. What is an unwanted habit? The brain simply got attached to a thought, and all you have to do is break this chain of neurons in the brain and build a new set. In other words, CHANGE the way you think, which will change the way you act.
Habits aren’t hard to break. Consider this: The brain quickly builds a new program when driving in a different country on the other side of the road. Habit… changed. So, why is it so much harder to do it with the unwanted habits?
What is hard to do, is setting our resolve and COMMITTING to our dreams. How much do you want it?
Without dreams we are simply floating through life, like a boat without a compass and no wind. Know where you are going, know what it will take to get there, AND JUST DO IT!
Don’t just spend 5 minutes thinking about it. Sit still in meditation, listen to your Higher Self. Every time we shift our attention from ‘survivor’ brain to body sensations or breath, we activate the mechanisms of happiness and self-control. Happiness and self-control go hand in hand.
You know what they say about tomorrow… it’s the busiest day of the week. No time like the present 🙂
