Yoga, when practiced correctly, have many benefits. The one benefit that I especially enjoy, is yoga’s healing abilities. Science only recently started to confirm what ancient yogi’s have been saying for thousands of years. We already have everything inside ourselves to heal ourselves.
What ailments do yoga cure?
Here are a few examples:
How does yoga heal?
As long as you follow your breath, and practice with a sense of ease, not forcing yourself into poses, yoga will cure whatever it is that needs healing. The key is to listen to your breath; keep your breath steady and easy. When you breathe with ease, you will move with ease, and therefore be at ease.
It’s when we are in a relaxed state of being that our bodies heal. The long, slow and deep method of breathing is what helps us to be in a relaxed state of being. This method of breathing increases our GABA neurotransmitters. These are responsible to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as regulate the other neurotransmitters. GABA is responsible for that happy yoga high you feel after class.
It is now known that we are not our genes. Our environment, lifestyle choices and behaviors effect the way we communicate and activate our genes. Science has now proven that if we change our lifestyles, we can change our gene expression. Negative behaviors, stress and toxins activate chemicals in our bodies that switches genes on and off. Therefore, and environment and lifestyle that eliminate toxins, stress and negative behaviors, will effect our genes in a positive way. Yoga does exactly that!
How will yoga change you?
On this yoga journey we discover our Selves, and improve our relationship with our bodies, as well as the people around us. The more we fall in love with who we are, the more we want to protect and take care of our home. Our body is after all the only home we have to live in. If we take care of our bodies, we will feel happier. There is a strong link between health and happiness.
The more we practice yoga, the more we want to eat and be surrounded by beautiful things, that will help us grow, heal and be happy.
