A lot of people ask me how they can lose weight. Here’s my opinion on the matter:
What are you eating?
Woman have to consume about 2000 calories a day, men need 2500 calories a day. If you consume more calories than what you burn up, you will gain weight. Try to eat more nutrient dense food, like fruit and vegetables, and cut out the high oil and carbohydrate foods like take-out burgers and pastas.
Breakfast is important:
Kick-start your metabolism and give your body high nutrient dense foods. They are quick and easy and don’t make a lot of mess. This is the ideal time of the day to get as many nutrients in as you can. Make your own granola, or have a chia porridge with home made nut milk. Or perhaps a delicious chocolate smoothie will be more of your liking… The possibilities are endless! Google is your friend 😉
Have your cake and eat it:
We are human, we are hard-wired to love foods that are sweet. Replace sugary dessert with healthy dessert. You can get your sugar fix without feeling like you are deprived or not allowed to have something sweet. There are so many delicious raw recipes online, experiment and have fun. Raw healthy desserts are quick to prepare, and come with no guilt.
Dress your salad:
Save money and lose weight by making your own salad dressing at home, instead of buying. There are delicious options, my favorite is strawberry vinaigrette. Experiment and be creative. Also, salad doesn’t have to consist of lettuce and tomato…
Exercise:
Remember, to lose weight you have to burn more calories than what you consume. Get off the coach and into the world. Go for a walk. Play some laser-tag. Do whatever makes you happy. If you are happy and free and healthy, the weight will come off by itself. Stop obsessing about it, and just live your life and have fun. Try new things, meet new people. Exercise doesn’t mean hours in the gym, it means move your body, in whatever way feels good!
