During the holidays we tend to eat a lot more, drink a lot more, and do all the things that are not so good for our bodies. On top of that, we are so busy running around getting everything ready for our holidays and family visits and big Christmas lunches. Some of us end up feeling more tired and burnt out after the holidays, and start the new year in a slump.
Follow the survival guide and hit the New Year feeling VIBRANT and HAPPY:
Meditate: Sit in a quiet place, put off your phone; and spend a few minutes sitting quietly, focus on your breathing and calm your mind. The world out there might be chaotic, but you don’t have to be.
Green juices: They might not sound so appetising, but trust me, spinach with apple and celery taste divine and will keep you going with a hop in your step.
Smoothies: It’s summer time and fresh seasonal fruit is everywhere. Mix and match and be adventurous. Don’t forget to pack your SUPERFOODS. Or, if you don’t have a blender, just eat a lot of raw fruit.
Drink Water: Especially during binging episodes, have a glass of water in between, it will help with the headache the next morning! If it’s hot, drink extra water and stay dehydrated.
Exercise: Practice your sun salutations, go for a hike, cycle around town, walk, swim in the ocean, whatever you need to do, DO IT. Don’t get into the habit of slumping in front of the TV. It’s a hard habit to lose especially if you want to hit the new year in high spirits.
Sunscreen: Or wear a hat. We especially don’t notice we are burning when we are having fun. If you do get caught in the sun, and end up looking like a red lobster, use any lotion with Aloe Vera in. Go for the animal friendly version if you can 🙂
Most importantly, RELAX, have FUN and come back SAFE. See you fresh and new in 2013 😀
