Breath, our life long companion. The one thing that we are constantly doing, which we actually have control over. But have you ever been taught HOW to breathe? Breath is something that I, like most people, took for granted that my body instinctively knows how to do. I could not have been more wrong. Breath is the most powerful tool that we have with us, every second of the day, to serve our changing needs. And once I learnt how to harness this power, my life changed.
Ancient yogis have always known the power of breath and have passed on their teachings through generations of learning. We sit in a yoga class and are told to breathe in a specific way. We follow a set of instructions and often the results are undeniable. But can you imagine a world in which you possess the power to achieve these results on your own, in every day life, off the mat?
In this workshop we will cover one of the great limbs of yoga, Pranayama. We will discuss the different Pranayama techniques and their benefits. We’ll delve into the depths of the human body, discovering how these techniques work, what actually happens in our bodies when we breathe, and why different practices have different effects on the body; and we will discuss the remarkable commonality between ancient Yogic philosophy and modern scientific discoveries. These “great, new discoveries” prove what Yogis always knew; breath is boss.
Whether you want to improve your athletic performance or your mental health, be able to think clearly in that job interview or strengthen your immune system; there is a breathing technique that can help you get there. By the end of this workshop, you will walk away equipped with an entire toolbox to help you fine tune your breath to serve you optimally.
